We are currently seeking applications from persons who are seeking to enter the private security industry as new comers and existing licensed professionals seeking to expand professional experience.
Our affiliation with HarkinsSecurity.com allows persons wanting or needing training required for licensure to access the courses necessary to begin, upgrade or renew the education needed for State compliance.
Full-Time, Part-Time and Contract Shifts Available.
Uniformed position at all times. Armed Security Officer’s duties include being a visible deterrent to criminal activity, providing security for patients, Associates and visitors, protecting and patrolling parking lots, buildings, assets and premises as assigned. The Armed Security Officer is responsible for responding to all emergency codes, internal/external disaster events as needed and/or requested, conducting preliminary investigations of reported incidents, and performing other security related tasks as directed by a security supervisor/and or Manager. The Armed Security Officer must have flexibility in hours and be able to rotate between facilities including travel whenever necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts frequent security patrols of the facilities and grounds as assigned.
- Identifies and reports trends related to security issues. Recommends actions.
- Takes initial information for an incident report, uses proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, notes only the facts, leaving out personal opinions and submits report in a timely manner (no later than the end of assigned shift).
- Responds promptly to all service requests relayed by supervisor, telephone, pass-on, e-mail, radio, cell phone and other correspondence in a courteous and expeditious manner.
- Responds to the collection, inventory and return of lost and found items, and personal property according to policy.
- Must be proficient with the use of a PC to generate electronic daily activity security reports, incident reports, emails and other applicable electronic correspondence during the performance of duties.
- Promotes a safe environment by reporting safety hazards observed (broken water/sprinkler lines, burned out internal/external lighting, smoke/gas odors, tripping hazards, etc) during the performance of security rounds.
- Demonstrated competence with hand gun, hand cuffs, baton, defensive tactics, non-violent dispute resolution and two-way radios.
- Frequent exposure to aggressive behavior and emotionally charged situations.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions such as fires, chemical spills, and flooding.
- Frequent exposure to heat and cold from external weather conditions.
- Long periods of walking, standing, stooping, and lifting.
- Must be physically fit and able to walk all areas of the facilities and grounds, to restrain those who need restraint and be able to assist nursing staff with lifting patients of all sizes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
- Must be mentally alert at all times
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to make immediate decisions with regard to laws, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
- Must be able to handle personal stress and possible violence
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Active Level III Certification (Texas) required; or attain within 30 days
- For positions in the state of Texas, an active level three security officer commission with the Texas Department of Public Safety – Regulatory Services Division (Private Security) is required.
- Verbal De-escalation training must be completed within 60 days of hire.
- Successful completion of all pre-employment and post offer assessments to include the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory – -3 (MMPI-3); and a clinical assessment by a third party clinical psychologist.
- Will be required to take random drug test screening.
- Valid Drivers’ license
The best candidate will perform the following duties and more:
- Observe and Report in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Attend stationary posts, conduct building patrols, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Display command presence being a highly visible deterrent
- Maintain a professional look in appearance
- Maintain professional interactions with others
- Deny entry to all unauthorized individuals and escort unauthorized individuals off the property as needed.
- Respond to incidents and provide accurate documentation including verbal and written reports of incidents to necessary personnel and/or authorities.
- Provide entry to authorized individuals
- Alert law enforcement of any elevated threats that may occur
- Perform administrative duties to include data entry and reports
- Managing emergencies in person and on the phone
- Protect people, businesses, and property from criminal activity
- Investigate reports of suspicious activities or disruptions occurring on property
MUST AGREE AND CONSENT TO BACKGROUND VERIFICATION INCLUDING DRUG TESTING.
Requirements:
We prefer to partner with someone with the following education and experience:
- Military or law enforcement experience
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have clean driving record.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Current or previous military and/or police experience is appreciated.
- Successful completion of HarkinsSecurity.com training and testing is mandatory prior to employment or at the time of hire to perform assigned tasks. Additional training may be requested and will need to be completed as specified.
- Employment is conditional upon negative drug test and acceptable background verification.

- Vigilance: Need to remain alert and attentive for long periods of time
- Read and react to situations: High level of emotional quotient as Private Security Guard must determine the best way to address situations that may arise throughout their shift.
